If you took the cable car ride into Sentosa, you may want to drop by the Singapore Cable Car Museum. Quietly hidden in a corner, it seems like not many people is aware of this place.

Upon alighting from the cable car at Sentosa station, make a left turn and walk down the flight of stairs and you will reach the entrance of the museum.

As we are Jewel Box card holders, admission is free. I'm not sure if there is an admission price tied to it. There are no entrance barriers and no one to check for tickets. The museum has a few cable cars inside and a collection of information that brings you back to the its history.

There is a life-size lego cable car, luxury style cable car and of course the famous Angry Bird designed cable car for our kiddos to pose.

The museum is not very big but it was pretty interesting to learn its fun little facts. 

Behind the doors, you will be leaded up to the second floor via a wooden staircase. Old photographs and toys were displayed on both sides of the wall. We cluttered at the stairs and took a fair bit of time before we decided to see what other surprises are awaiting us.

Let's take a quick glance at the second storey of the museum, all stuffed with things that we were once so familiar with. The entire setting brings me back vividly to my childhood days already.

A panel of cabinets displaying toys, report books, medals, uniforms and many more. Denver and Gladys get to see how different life was now compared to our times.

Little wooden tables and chairs as they mimic how children attend school in the earlier days of Singapore.

Fancy a new haircut? This is not the usual salon that you get to see nowadays.

Gladys is having fun snapping on the buttons of the type-writer. Mommy used to use this to type my school assignments. ^_^ Changing the red and black ribbon was fun too.

Even though the Children Little Museum occupies a very small space, the owner managed to fully utilized its available floor area. The walls and ceiling were not spared as well.

At the Children Little Museum, visitors can take photographs as well as have a feel and look at the items on display.

Before bidding farewell to the museum, Gladys picked a package for a token of $2. Inside the brown paper bag is filled with little toys.

We spent nearly 2 hours at Children Little Museum and had loads of fun taking photos. It is a great place for both adults and children. Not only our kiddos learnt how Daddy & Mommy's childhood was like, I also get to revisit my younger days and things that have been forgotten over time. A great hide-out in the buzzing city.

After Hubby completed his four days survivor course with our kiddos, it's Mommy's turn to take our young ones out on a half day tour! After thinking through, I decided to take them to the Children Little Museum, which is quietly hidden within Bussorah Street. The two-storey high shop-house is a gem that is unknown to many. The 'mascot' which attracted the passer-bys and causing a lot of curiosity, is the man-size robot that is standing outside the museum.

Toys that we used to play are displayed neatly where visitors can purchase.

Upon entering the museum, you will be amazed and mesmerized by the things that we once played or used when we were a child. Although this little museum does not has the luxury of space like the other museums, it fully utilized every corner with the owner's wide range of antique that brings you back to the 60s.

The first storey of the museum is open to public and visitors are free to roam around, take photos and have a good look at the collection. This jukebox in particular was a hit in the older days and its a pity our kiddos don't get to see them around to glimpse and feel the jazz of it.

Do you remember or recognise any of these items? The first item that caught my eye was the vibrant red coloured phone and holder which we used to have it in our house.

Pottery and spittoon (aka "tam pui" in hokkien)... Are our children familiar with them?

A collection of bottle-caps. I mentioned to Denver this was one of my childhood toy. During our times, we don't usually buy toys but used what was available to make toys and think of our own games. Many also love to exchange/collect the different design bottle caps. Always wanted to show Denver and he finally spotted it in the museum. Cool!

Do our young readers know what this is? Using a pulley system with 2 metal containers at each end of the provision shop, this is what we call our older days 'cashier' device. ^_^ Shopkeepers can keep their earnings and give change to their customers conveniently. I always enjoy seeing the containers moving up and down swiftly and hearing the sound of the coins dropping into the metallic cans. Denver finds this 'cashier' very interesting and fun too!

Before moving up to the second floor, do stop by and take a look at the backyard where you will find a scooter to pose with.

An admission charge of $2 (per pax) is applicable if you like to visit the museum on the second storey. We took some pictures with the robots before taking the stairs up. ^_^

Despite the space constrain, I'm surprised that we actually took quite a bit of time combing through the first floor. There are so much to see and it brings back a lot of memories. Denver & Gladys could not contain their excitement to have a look at what's 'hiding' behind the door. To be continued.....

The Voyage Night Festival 2011 is going into it's 2nd and final weekend. I was intrigue by the Night Lights installations published on the brochures and didn't regret dropping by the Singapore Arts Museum (Free Admissions) with the family yesterday night.

Even though it was already 9pm, it didn't failed to attract the tourists and enthusiastic crowd to gather and enjoy themselves with the spectucular showcase of lights installations, music, programs and exhibits.

The first installation that welcomed us was "The Cloud" projected on the building. From a little electrical cloud, it slowlys expand and grow.

The Lyrical Perspective was our favourite! Denver and Gladys joined in the queue to make SAM comes ALIVE! Sound effects from their voices and the combination of the lights creates a visual effect on the museum. Seeing is Believing!

It's not an Angry Bird but an Angry robotic face that changes with the projection of your voice. COOL!

Stepping into the SAM, we headed to the courtyard to see the "Jellyfish" look alike. :) Gladys thinks it is scary as they look like floating jellyfish ghosts. :) I thought it was pretty neat and it would be even more interesting to see them really float around the courtyard.

There are various art exhibits within the SAM and you have to open your eyes to keep a look out of the interesting artifacts around the museum. :)

Gladys won't miss any chance on getting herself a free balloon (despite the long queue) and having her lovely hand painted with glitter! While waiting, Denver gets to watch a video within the museum which all of us have missed.

The night is getting late and we did not managed to go through all the other light installations at the National Musuem and SMU plus the other programmes and exhibits. It was a pity but we did have fun and it has been an eye-opening experience for all of us. Looking forward to the Night Festival next year for more excitement and art exposure!

It is the 4th year since the Night Festival has been held. In conjunction with the Voyage Night Festival 2011, there will be late night free admissions to the following museums with a range of programmes and activities.

This is a great opportunity not to be missed and we took the children down for a Night Ride at Peranakan Museum. Admission is free from 6pm - 2am with activities starting from 7pm - 11pm. In addition, free goodie bags are given to the first 200 children and free ice-cream for the first 500 visitors from 7pm onwards. (While stocks last).

There was already a crowd lingering outside the Museum and Substation when we arrived. With the colour changing lightings, the museum looks extremely enchanting.

The special exhibition - Sarong Kebaya will take the visitors to a fashion trend of the Peranakan women and it's interesting facts. 

The children collected their goodie bags consisting of a free notebook, an activity book, a mini puzzel, and a bookmark.

Denver and Gladys had a lot of fun participating in the craft section within the glow-in-the-dark room - "Glow with the Flow". There are sand and paper crafts for the children and its fun to see the clothing and crafts glow in the room.

The kiddos spent time doing their sand craft (with Mommy's help) and were very happy to choose and play with the coloured sands.

Before we leave the dark room to check out the other activities outside, we left personal notes on the wall signifying the fun, love we had at the museum.

There are a range of performances lined up at the main lobby and Ixora room of the museum. From shadow puppet show, songs, dance, multi-ethnic drum to sand art performance. It's a night full of entertainment and cultural richness.

Denver and Gladys like the Sand Art performance and were trilled to see how the images are transformed with the slender movement of a pair of hands and fine sand. At the end of the performance, the childen not only had a chance to be up close and personal with the actual set, they also touch and play with the sand, doing up their very own sand display.

Before leaving the musuem, we had our free vanila & chocolate flavoured ice-cream. It was a wonderful experience and exposure at the Peranakan Museum. The Night Ride ends tonight, if you are interested, do make a trip down and join in the night full of lights, music and life.
