~ Circle Line Open House - Part 2 ~

We started our Circle Line Discovery at 12pm and took 1.5 hours to reach the 5th station - Buona Vista. We did not manage to stay on to catch the Circle Line Musical but there are prizes being given away during the Q&A session with Glenn Ong.

A quick glimpse at One North station

Moving on to one of my favourite stop - Kent Ridge Station.

This must be one of the longest flight of stairs that I've seen across the new stations so far. Hubby and the kiddos climbed up while I took the escalator instead. :p

There are a lot of activites here as well. Kampong games like four stones, tikam tikam, hop-scotch, gasing etc can be found here.

The children and I also spent some time at the Graciousness Photo Pledge booth. Each of us drew a picture and wrote our pledge on how to be gracious on public transport. We even get to take home the photos taken with our pledge card. 10 lucky participants with the best pledge will win $30 shopping vouchers. :)

*Gladys was a bit grouchy when her picture was submitted. She thought she can take her drawing home. Awwww.. :)

It's almost 3pm and we were moving a bit too slow through the stations. Gladys, missing her nap time is getting tired and we skipped a few stops.

Arriving at Telok Blangah station, we saw another YES 933 DJ, Jiahui. There were also some toys and games to keep the children entertained.

We finally reached our final destination : HabourFront. There was a long queue at the jewelry making booths and we decided to give it a miss. Instead, we went to join another queue for a free can of Coco-Cola to quench our thirst.

We took the train all the way back from HabourFront to Caldecott before driving back home. It was a 5 hours discovery trail for us. We were tired but had a good time exercising (climbing the stairs), having fun at the various game booths and experiencing the art pieces and surroundings at the new Circle line stations.

If you missed the Open House last Sunday, there will be a Circle Line Opening Carnival at Holland Village on 8 Oct 2011 (Saturday), from 6-9pm. Music and dance performances will add on to the celebration and party. Remember to pick up a discount voucher booklet  at any Circle Line MRT station that day and enjoy discounts at more than 70 merchants. :)

~ Circle Line Open House - Part 1 ~

When the first stretch of Circle Line stations (Marymount to Bartley) were opened in May 2009, it was so convenient to travel to Bishan from our home. As more stations began operations from Bartley to Dhoby Ghaut last April, we have additional options when travelling down to Suntec City.

Now, the final 12 stations of the Circle Line (CCL), running from Marymount to HarbourFront will open for passenger service officially on 8 October 2011. This will bring us nearer to parks & gardens (e.g.  Botanic Garden, Labrador Park, Southern Ridges, Telok Blangah Hill, Kent Ridge Park etc), business hubs (Biopolis, Fusionopolis) and more accessibility to shopping and food paradise.

2 October 2011 - We hopped on to a Circle Line Discovery trail during it's OPEN HOUSE last Sunday. From 10am - 6pm, visitors travel for free to the 12 newest train stations. There are special events held at 6 different stations filled with a variety of programs and performances.

We started our journey at Caldecott and explore the various architectural designs uniquely displayed at individual stations.

 Wow! So High!
Denver & Gladys taking their first ride across the new stations. :)

Setting off from Caldecott, we reached Botanic Gardens Station where YES 933 DJ, Peifen is the station master.

We met our friend Johnny & his family and the children did oragami and drawings.

Exiting from the station, we checked out the surroundings and got a pink helium balloon for Gladys. Travelling down to Botanic Gardens will be a breeze soon.

Gladys is so Happy with her Balloon that she can't stop posing with it.
Our Daddy's girl always like to give funny faces.

Our next destination - Farrer Road. It's so fun going through the station gates freely without tapping our ezlink cards for payment. :p  You also won't miss the Big Yellow Balloon floating high up at every CCL station, promoting the open house event.

Denver and Gladys have been running up and down the stairs at every other stations. Mommy is exhausted and prefers to take the escalator.

It has been years since I visited Holland Village! The stretch of shop houses with cafes, restuarants and shops are still the distinctive feature that makes it a popular hang-out.

We moved from station to station and our next stop is Bouna Vista. To be continued....
