~ The Southern Ridges Trail - Part 3 ~

After the break, we need to walk back to our initial starting point where our cars are parked. Naturally, the children grumbled but followed on. :)

Tracing back to the Hilltop Walk, we stopped by the Terrace Garden. It is the highest point in Telok Blangah Hilltop Park where we can have a good view from the top.

The rain did not stop and continued to drizzle. The grounds are wet and slippery and we carefully made our way up the steps.

Here I am at the top! :)

We took shelter and a break. The older children started to introduce games where they played in school and that got most of us involved in the fun activity.

How the game is played : 2 players in a game. Each player begins with one of their foot placed right behind the other. Both players' foot has to touch each other at all times. The 2 players will then have a game of sciossors, paper, stone. Whoever win can 'retreat' their foot back. The player who lost will need to stretch his foot up to touch his opponent foot. This continues and the player who cannot stretch himself/herself to touch the other player's foot will lose. :D

A simple game yet it brought so much joy and excitement. We all had fun and made a lot of noise. That certainly has 'disturbed' the usual peacefulness and serenity of the park.

Apart from games, the view from the top is also refreshing. We can have a good view of Singapore, the garden, and the cable cars from afar.

It's time to move on and we continued our walk back to the Forest Walk and Alexandra Arch.

From the HortPark to the Henderson Waves is approximately 2.4km and we had a total of almost 4.8km walk which took us about 3hours to complete (including the break). It was raining throughout the journey but we made it. The view along the way was great and we had a good morning exercise! :) Kuddos to the children too!

Yes! We have reached the Henderson Waves after about 90 minutes of walking from our intial starting point - Hort Park. The view from the bridge is pretty nice and it has been a cool and wet morning walk so far (despite the rain which is getting heavier)!

Henderson Waves (36m above Henderson Road) is the highest pedestrain bridge in Singapore which connects Mount Faber Park and Telok Blangah Hill Park. The 274 metre steel bridge is wavy in shape and it is lit with LED at night from 7pm to 2am daily.

View from Henderson Waves

Along the way, we saw many people (young and old, couples and families) coming here for a jog or simply take some photos while having their walk.

Thanks to Andy for sharing this photo with us, I really like this picture where Hubby is holding hands with the little ones. :)

Another group photo for completing the Henderson Waves! :) It has been a Long Walk for the children and we made it!

Everyone deserves another break and we took shelter within one of the pavilion. There are many ants on the ground, but the children did not panic and happily enjoying their Pocky sticks and Honey Stars. I guess nothing beats the Yummy Snacks! :)

Yeah! We MADE IT!

~ Part 3 - to be continued....

~ The Southern Ridges Trail - Part 1 ~

It's Labour Day holiday and another long weekend. Earlier this morning, the Lee, Tan and Heng family took on The Southern Ridges trail! Comprises of 5 adults and 7 children, the group assembled at around 8:45am and set off.

Starting from the Hort Park where our cars are parked, we embarked onto the Alexandra Arch - a 80m long bridge which is lit up by interchanging LEDs in the night. Denver and Gladys soon made new friends with Johnny's and Andy's children and we all had loads of fun and laughter along the way.

It was a cooling morning with a bit of drizzle. The grounds are wet and slippery and all of us (especially the children) need to be extra careful while walking on the metal elevated walkway connecting the Alexandra Arch. The 1.3km Forest Walk gave us a good foresty view of the Telok Blangah Hill.

We took our first break (after walking for about 30 minutes) and the children had group photo with the completion of the Forest Walk. A quick stop for all of us to have some water before continuing our journey to our destination point - The Henderson Waves. :)

After resting for about 10 mins, We went on to the next trail - Hilltop Walk. The weather started to get gloomier with more drizzling. The children put on their caps and sweaters and we continue our way up.

This is probably the place where we may get mozzies bites but luckily we had our insect repellants ready and the children are spared. :) After completing the 1km walk, we have finally reached the Henderson Waves!
