Newport Oregon - Coast and Lighthouse Engagement Session.

A fantastic day on the Oregon Coast! Newport Oregon is a jewell and, even if about 3 hours away from Portland, totally worth visiting (for pleasure AND for special photographic occasions). About one week ago, Josh and I drove south to Newport to meet up with our 9.10.11 couple, Ang & Craig. Newport means a lot to them and since we love to find new places to photograph our couples in, we were glad to be able to join them there!

We met up in the evening (to take advantage of the warmer, sunset light) in Newport's old town area, where all of the historic warehouses and fishermen and breweries and little shops are. Right by the big bridge. A fun place to be, for pleasure and for photos. Lots of fishing related details, marine life related murals and, of course, the sea.

After spending some time there, we got in our cars and went to the local, historic, beautiful lighthouse and tide pools area, on the actual beach. We had planned for the perfect time to meet in Newport! For the warmer light, as mentioned earlier AND for the lowest tides, as well. Low tides allowed us to be more able to play on the reef and the cliffs and to see the beautiful rock-clinging life (sea anemones, star fish, mussels... loved it!).

The lighthouse was amazing too. The wind was whipping us left and right, but we made sure to use it to our advantage by letting Ang's hair blow in it, and the grasses around us to lean at the perfect angle. The mostly cloudy skies (with some blueness here and there) allowed for some dramatic skies, which we LOVE so much!

Here are a handful of the images taken that day. We LOVE the Oregon Coast. This state's nature and landscapes (and our ability to take advantage of them) is one of the most favorite aspects of being able to do the photography we do. YAY!

Real (beach) Wedding Featured on StyleUnveiled!

Thank You Portland Style Unveiled for being such a great group of hard working wedding resource ladies! The attention we get when our photographs are featured on their site, is fantastic. They are very selective about what style and quality of images they show on their site, so we feel honored every time we are chosen to be one of the select few!

This time, Grace & Neal's wedding day at the beach in Gearhart, Oregon was the one selected to be showcased on Style Unveiled. The layout is beautiful and adding the element of actual words and thoughts from the bride herself to the post, is priceless. It's not just about our images anymore, but about how the Real Bride (beautiful Grace) actually felt about us as photographers and the other vendors involved. We love it! PS: Grace answered the questionnaire while sipping on Mai-Tais in Hawaii on her honeymoon! How awesome are our brides?! ;)

Here is a screenshot of Grace & Neal's Real Wedding feature. We'd be honored if you clicked on through to see the full post on their site! Share with the world by clicking on the Twitter/Stumble/FB Like buttons and leave a comment too! We LOVE to read your comments! ;)

Thank you Heather & Kimberly for all of your hard work!
HUGS!

Wedding day on the Oregon coast.

Grace & Neal are married! The day was yesterday, Saturday April 30th 2011. The day after the famous Royal Wedding. Grace (along with her friends and family) thought of her own day as a royal one. Why? Because her married name will be: Grace Kelly! ;)

Westminster Abbey or not, Grace & Neal's wedding day was perfect. Small enough to allow for every single guest to have great contact with the bride and groom, yet large enough to have it be a true party. The Oregon Coast was perfect too. Sunny and warm, bright and practically deserted. From the beaches of Gearhart, everyone followed Grace & Neal up the street, all the way to McMenamin's Sandtrap, for the reception.

Having gotten to know them during their engagement session (red balloons and hollow picture frames in Portland) we knew they would be fun to see and play with again. Sure enough! Right before sunset, the four of us went back to the beach to take more romantic, fun and artful photographs of the two of them, away from the crowd. We had a blast and love the resulting images. We are so excited to show them! :)

One of the highlights of the day was to see our previous bride (and Grace's maid of honor) Katie, who got married at McMenamin's Edgefield this past September 2010. We love keeping our shoots in the family and love that ours keeps growing! YAY!

Here are details about the vendors involved. Everyone worked flawlessly together. What a great day!

An engagement in Astoria and Ft Stevens!

What do a shipwreck, a World War II fort, the Goonies and love have in common? Jodie & Stoney, that's what! ;)

The four of us spent yesterday afternoon (April 23rd, 2011) in Astoria Oregon. It was their engagement session day AND Stoney's birthday too! Lots of fun was had all afternoon long, from the pier in town, to the famous Astoria Column, to the Peter Iredale shipwreck near high tide, and finally, to Fort Stevens. A few minor changes in clothes and lots of adventures later, we ended up at Fort George Brewery for dinner and a beer to end the fun day!

The sun was out, the sky was blue and the temperature... not bad at all! A super nice spring day in Oregon with yet another awesome Mosca couple. How lucky are we to have such adventurous and ready-for-anything brides and grooms?! As you scroll down through the photos, notice what a TROOPER Josh was too! When it came time for Jodie & Stoney to climb on the ship, Josh ventured IN the freezing water in his flip flops, just so he could be sure to get great closeup shots of them... I love this man <3 Oh what he wouldn't do for a great shot! ;)

Here is a sneak peek of the day. Jodie & Stoney are sweet, smart, fun and in love. We want to personally thank eHarmony for bringing these two love-birds together. They are so perfect for one another! We can't wait to hang with them again and to shoot their wedding, next August, at Mt Hood Bed & Breakfast, near Hood River. YAY!
