~ Wishes for the New Year - 2013! ~

HAPPY 2013! Our first blog post for the year! Last month, we penned our wishes down on the Wishing Spheres and these little white balls, together with our wishes are floating on the waters of Marina Bay as we catch the countdown yesterday in the comfort of our new home.

2012 was a very busy and tiring year for our family. After a major decision to move to a new unit, we spent most of the months packing, moving and unpacking. It was a Year of many Changes and Challenges. Change of environment, lifestyle as well as a mix feeling of emotions.

We have finally settled down and spent our December holidays, Christmas and New Year Eve counting down in our lovely nest. Our kiddos are as happy and excited as ever as they prepare and get ready to start school tomorrow! ^_^

Here's our wishes for the New Year! :)

Apologies for the lack of updates and blog posts as BPDGTravels is MOVING....

Well, not exactly moving in blog space but rather our family is in the process of shifting to a new home. The upcoming months is going to be tiring as we will be busy with renovation works and also juggling with our daily committments.

Nevertheless, we will continue to blog (slowly but surely)!

Apart from continuing to share the various family events and fun places, we will also begin to blog on another of our favourite past-time .... FOOD!

Stay Tune and We'll Be BACK!

~ Food Revolution Day 2012 ~

Have you every heard about Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution? Well, I certainly do not until I was being introduced by a fellow food blogger friend, Derrick about the Food Revolution Day which is going to be held in Singapore on 19th May (Saturday).

Why is there a food revolution?

"We're losing the war against obesity in the US. It's sad, but true. Our kids are growing up overweight and malnourished from a diet of processed foods, and today's children will be the first generation ever to live shorter lives than their parents. It's time for change. It's time for a Food Revolution."
....................
"The only message I keep hearing is that you believe your kids need better food, and that you want help to keep cooking skills alive. That's why this Food Revolution matters."
~ Jamie Oliver

Learn more about Food Revolution Day and it's misson for better food and bringing food education back to people. I went to search for his revolution videos and its amazing how he has shown nuggets are made and his effort in bringing in awareness and changing the way we cook, and to eat real food instead of processed food.

There will be cooking demos, talks, giveaways, games and performances and it will be a chance where people who love and enjoy food would come together. It looks like a great event for everyone and moving towards a healthier lifestyle through understanding the food we eat everyday.

Event: Food Revolution Day Dinner Party
Date: 19 May 2012, 4-8pm
Address: The Lawn, Biopolis Way

Thanks to Juliana, we are happy and delighted to be invited to the opening of the Looney Tunes Christmas Musical! A wishing sphere is spotted at the entrance and our kiddos wrote their wishes down for the third time (and counting)! - We have penned our wishes at Marina Bay, Orchard Road and Suntec City to date! Check out our experience here : http://bpdgtravels.blogspot.com/2011/12/penning-our-wishes-for-new-year.html

Denver & Gladys - happily waiting for their favourite characters to make their entrance in while munching on the yummy popcorn.

Here comes the Looney Tunes!! Can you guess who are the kiddos' favourite? Read on... :)

"I tawt I taw a puddy tat!" ..... "I did! I did!" ---- Say "Hi" to Slyvester and Tweety too!

The children are very familiar with Looney Tunes since they have been watching this cartoon on TV/CD numerous times repeatedly. The entire musical is filled with songs and dances to bring in the Christmas cheer!

It wouldn't be complete without hearing Christmas songs - brought to you by the Looney Tunes!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

The musical ended with a confetti BLAST and children swamp to grab the ribbons!

Did you guess who are Denver and Gladys' favourite character? It's pretty obvious just looking at whom they are standing with! I hope Sylvester didn't mind nor feel too lonely. ^_^

Christmas is around the corner and we wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR in advance. :)

~ Celebrating Christmas with Mr Moon & Friends ~

During December holidays, shopping malls are packed with shows and meet & greet sessions. This year, our curious, adventure-loving Mr. Moon and his celestial friends have rocket down to Singapore for Christmas! (*I spotted a plush toy of Mr Moon which is SOOOOO CUTE! A great Christmas present! ^_^)

Mr Moon is a delighted tale of Mr Moon and his friends’ adventures in the wondrous galaxy, created by British author, Kate Veale. All the characters are so lovable and cute, no wonder Gladys is so keen to see Mr Moon LIVE!

There was a queue forming an hour before the show! (7pm). Luckily we arrived early and joined in the line.

Thankfully, there is a TV screening short clips of Mr Moon that helps to make the half an hour waiting bearable for the kiddos. ^_^ The show started with a game and activity involving the children doing various kinds of actions. They jumped, screamed and cheered for Mr Moon's appearance.

After much anticipation, we welcomed Mr Moon and his friends! Aren't they adorable?

There are songs, dances, video clips and also bubble flakes! A very entertaining show for the entire family to catch this Christmas season.

Denver & Gladys took a nice photo with Mr Moon & Friends! Obviously, Gladys' favourite character is Mr Moon himself! (Mommy prefers Sunny though. hehehe)

If you like to catch Mr Moon & his friends (who will be visiting Frasers Centerpoint Malls), check out the following website for the showtime and it's location. - http://www.fraserscentrepointmalls.com/promo/Galactic_Christmas/

Have a Galactic Christmas!

~ Christmas ChariTrees @ Marina Bay ~

December is here! My favourite month of the year as it is the school holidays and filled with festive cheer! Christmas trees and lightings are up and we are singing our all-time favourite cheery Christmas songs.

To add on to the festive season, twenty 10-feet tall Norfolk Pine trees have been placed along Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade. Each sponsored "ChariTrees" are fitted with LED lights and decorated with Christmas ornaments by various organisations who have adopted them and pledged to help the less fortunate, raising funds for 300,000 beneficiaries of the Community Chest.

We may not have snow in Singapore, but with the majestic Singapore skyline as the backdrop, the Christmas ChariTrees lightened and brightened up the Waterfront magically.

The ChariTrees (jointly brought in by the Community Chest and the Urban Redevelopment Authority) is on display and lighted from now till 1st Jan 2012. We brought the kids along to have a stroll along the waterfront while taking pictures and enjoying the scenary. Not forgetting going on another round of "Elephant Hunting" for the Elephant Parade event. ^_^

Apart from admiring the unique decos on each Christmas tree, you can also vote for your favorite ChariTree and stand a chance to win a Christmas ride for 2 where you and your partner will go on a tour bus ride to see the beautiful lighting and decorations around Marina Bay!

Voting period: Now on till Sun 11 Dec
https://www.facebook.com/marinabaysg?sk=app_6009294086
Venue: Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade (near Mist Walk/Marina Bay Sands)

It's a season of Love, Giving and Sharing around Marina Bay and we are already soaking into the Holiday Season!

~ Birdz of Play @ Jurong Bird Park is Opened! ~

Great news! Jurong Bird Park has recently opened a new bird-themed funland - Birdz of Play suitable for children of all ages! Another playground for families to venture this December holidays!

We have not check out the new playground but based on the reports, its going to be another main attraction for families to stop by when they visit the park!

Birdz of Play has designated wet and dry play zones that are separated for toddlers and older children. There is an animal-themed playground in the Rainforest Kidzworld at Singapore Zoo and now we welcome a bird-themed funland at the Bird Park! Water sprays, giant tipping water bucket, slides plus the flying fox are not to be missed. On top of that, there is a multi-purpose pavilion where older kiddos can play games at the games room while parents do their shopping at the retail outlet.

Seems like a lot of fun!

~ My Waterway@Punggol Opening in October! ~

Punggol Waterway (also called My Waterway@Punggol) will be opening it's door to the public from 23rd October 2011.

The 4.2 kilometre, Singapore's longest man-made waterway features 5 bridges and a 280m-long 'Heartwave Wall'. Extending from the Lorong Halus Wetland and The Riverside Walk, it has walking and cycling path which connects Punggol Reservoir to Serangoon Reservoir.

News from CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1156272/1/.html

We have been cycling along the 3km track from our home to Lorong Halus Wetland and had a sneak peak from afar. There are still minor construction and touch up that needs to be done before it's official opening.

We are looking forward to the new extension and this is definitely great news for the residents staying in Sengkang and Punggol. :)
