~ Flight of Fancy @ The Cloud Forest ~

Stepping into the Cloud Forest is heavenly with the world's tallest indoor waterfall standing before us. The kids wowed as they did not expect to see this sight. I'm pretty sure they will dash into the falls if it was not blocked by the railings.

The waters created a misty look and it was so cooling to stand by the falls - a perfect spot to spend the hot afternoon inside the cool observatory.

Inside the Cloud Forest - It has a totally different look and feel compared to the Flower Dome.

Do take your time to observe the various plants and floral display as you walk through the Cloud Forest.

Map and walking route of the Cloud Forest

We began our trail by taking the lift up to level 6

Climbed a level up to reach the Lost World - the highest point of the Cloud Mountain.

From the top, we get a good aerial view of the canopy and mountainside beneath.

Gladys was admiring the planted walls while Denver enjoyed the view from the waterfall platform.

Taking on the Cloud Walk - view from interior or through the glass panels within the Cloud Forest is beautiful.

We descended further to the Crystal Mountain and amused ourselves by taking a picture of our family from the reflection of the mirror.
The Cloud Mountain

Walking out from the tree top walk, we headed to visit the Earth Check Lab and +5 Degree exhibition. Really love the video presentation on what effects global warming has on our mother Earth if the temperature has rise by an average of 5 degrees. It is interactive and sends a signal to everyone to do our part to protect and conserve our planet.

We ended our journey with Secret Garden as our final stop. I like the way the trail was being designed to bring us through the various levels, each with a unique theme. We get to learn the biodiversity and geology of the Cloud Forest, beginning from the top of the 'mountain' as we slowly make our way down via a circular path. Would love to be back again with the children to spend some family time together and at the same time embark ourselves on a learning journey.

~ New Launch - Journey 2 the Mysterious Island - 4D Experience ~

22nd May 2013 - Sentosa 4D AdventureLand (Southeast Asia's first 4-D Theatre) has recently launched its new 4D Movie Experience - "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island", starring Dwayne Johnson, Michael Cain, Luis Guzman, Josh Hutcherson and Venessa Hudgens, Have always known Dwayne as "The Rock" since young, watching him wrestling during his glory days in the WWF and seeing him progressing successfully into his acting career. We watched this adventure movie in 2-D format at the cinema and am looking forward to see what surprises it will give us in the 4-D setting .

 Waiting with loads of anticipation

The idea of 4-D effect is the combination of 3 dimension movie with the external 4th element added in the form of water, wind and movement. Putting on our 3-D glasses, we had a thrilling time enjoying the 15 minutes show. Taken from various clips from the movie, Journey 2, there's wind, water splashes, bubbles,  movement and an extra effect (which I shall not reveal here) that made me jump. At some point in time, I even thought I smell something different in the air. You will need to sit in to experience it all.

Apart from the 4D movie theater, the AdventureLand also house another 2 attractions that further enhance your 4-D experience.

Desperados - the first 4-D interactive shoot-out game in Singapore. Acting as Sheriffs  we saddled up on our horses, put on our 3-D glasses and aimed our sensor pistols at the bandits in the Wild Wild West. There is a score display on individual horses and somehow for the first 2 rounds, I didn't seem to hit anything! Not sure where and what I am aiming at, I pressed the trigger continuously and eventually felt the vibration on the pistol when I finally hit my target. It would be great if there is an instruction board indicating how this game works for first timers to enjoy the game better. The good thing is, with the one day adventure pass, you can go for unlimited rounds of shooting game and compete with your friends or family.

Extreme Log Ride - As the name implies, the 4-D simulated roller coaster ride took us on a series round of twirls and turns as we set our imagination wild imagining ourselves travelling on a super-tree log through the caves and valleys. Buckle on your seat belts and get ready to soar up and then plunge down over the waterfalls. Among the 3 rides, this is most intensive. However, that didn't really scare the kids off during the 10 minutes ride.

Visitors can now get to enjoy all 3 rides (unlimited) with the one-day adventure pass.

Sentosa 4D AdventureLand
Operating Hours: 10am - 9pm (Daily)
Admission rates: SGD $38.90 (Adults), SGD $26.90 (Child 3 to 12 years)
*Unlimited entries on day of visit and free entry for children below 3 years old.

We were honored to be able to experience the launch of the new 4-D Movie Experience - Journey 2 (presented first time in Asia). Thank you for the hospitality and making each guests feel welcome and important. Families now have another alternative to enjoy their day out in Sentosa during the up-coming holidays.

Disclosure: All comments and opinions are personal and no monetary compensation was received. Thank you Sentosa & DSPG for the invitation to experience the 4D AdventureLand and the official launch of Journey 2.

~ Singapore Cable Car Museum - A ride through History ~

If you took the cable car ride into Sentosa, you may want to drop by the Singapore Cable Car Museum. Quietly hidden in a corner, it seems like not many people is aware of this place.

Upon alighting from the cable car at Sentosa station, make a left turn and walk down the flight of stairs and you will reach the entrance of the museum.

As we are Jewel Box card holders, admission is free. I'm not sure if there is an admission price tied to it. There are no entrance barriers and no one to check for tickets. The museum has a few cable cars inside and a collection of information that brings you back to the its history.

Cable car fare structure in the past. See how much inflation has caused the price to multiply.

There is a life-size lego cable car, luxury style cable car and of course the famous Angry Bird designed cable car for our kiddos to pose.

The museum is not very big but it was pretty interesting to learn its fun little facts.

~ The Jewel Box @ Mount Faber ~

We have been to Sentosa by foot, bus, car, taxi, but never have the children and I cross the little island via the cable car. Hubby heard about the privileges of the Jewel Card through a friend and we actually signed up for the family membership (2 adults, 2 children) at SGD$99. *There is also membership for single sign-up.

For the one year membership, our family gets to enjoy some of the following benefits.

- Unlimited Singapore Cable Car rides.
- Unlimited admission to Sentosa via Singapore Cable Car, Sentosa Boardwalk and Sentosa Express.
- Unlimited drive-in entry to Sentosa for one registered car.
- Unlimited admission to Asia’s First Cable Car Museum
- 30% off Singapore Cable Car ride for another person, accompanied by cardholder.
- 20% off at Singapore Cable Car’s retail shops.
- 20% off food and beverages at all dining outlets at The Jewel Box.
- Free valet parking with minimum spend of $30 at any F&B outlets at The Jewel Box
etc...

We applied for our membership at the counter and collected our individual card (each card is personalized with your photo) within 20 minutes. Our family will be expecting to travel between Mount Faber and Sentosa more frequently to fully utilize our membership.

Although Denver and Gladys had their cable car rides in Malaysia and Hong Kong, they were very excited to experience it in their homeland. :) We board the cable car from Habour Front Tower 2, moving towards Sentosa. We had a good view of the Virgo from the top and Denver and Gladys pondered when we can go on a cruise.

As we get nearer to Sentosa, Denver & Gladys WOWed looking at the Adventure Cove Waterpark.  Their jaws dropped seeing the water slides, wave pool and playground. They literally 'begged' us to take them to the waterpark so that they can plunge into the pool right away. Unfortunately, we had to disappoint the kids but we will try to arrange another trip for them to have some fun.

Seeing this just switch on your holiday mood.
View from the top overlooking Sentosa.

From Sentosa, we continued our ride to Mount Faber and back to Harbour Front Tower 2. We enjoyed the scenery along the way as we made a round trip (~15-20 minutes) without alighting.

It was our first ride and we planned to come back again soon to visit the Cable Car museum and stop by Sentosa again. :)

~ 2013 CNY Festive Street Bazaar @ Chinatown ~

Chinese New Year is never the same without bringing the kids down to Chinatown for a walk and experience the festive mood. Sometimes I ponder how many more years will our kiddos follow us to squeeze through the crowd during this period of time. :)

The streets are always buzzling with people especially during the weekends but it is also the best time of the year to witness how vibrant and exciting Chinatown is! Surprising Denver and Gladys did not complain about the heat and jostling among the crowd. On the contrary, they pretty much enjoyed scanning through the CNY goodies with us and had some rounds of food-tasting along the way.

In less than 2 weeks, we will be welcoming the Year of the Water Snake. Snake sculptures, decorated with lanterns, can be found along New Bridge Road and South Bridge Road. Personally, I preferred the cuter snake (formed by about 850 yellow sky lanterns) that was looming above my head. Didn't really get a chance to walk to the front and grab a nice photo shot of the snake, so I can only view from the back.

It is uplifting to hear the stall owners and assistants yelling at the top of their voice to bring in more sales, to see the crowd choosing and grabbing their CNY goodies and to feel the sea of red once more.

We spotted a pretty Happy plant on sale. It looks really interesting and easy to maintain. Unfortunately, this little green bag is a bit too pricy that we have to give it a miss.

Hubby bought some yummy candies for Denver and Gladys to replenish their 'sugar' that they might have lost during the long walk. ^_^ It always works to increase their happiness level.

As for myself, I always enjoy looking at the flowers and hope to bring home a pot of Pussy Willows this year. ^_^ Visiting Chinatown is the mark of our CNY celebrations.

~ Experience the Sky, Land and Sea Adventure this Holiday! - Part 3 ~

The view from the Singapore Flyer is just as breathtaking as ever. The ~30 minutes ride is a pleasure as you take flight and look at our beautiful country from the very top.

Gladys was feeling very excited, a little bit nervous and insecure about getting near to the glass panels initially. After some warm up and some assurance, she is back to her bubbly, adventurous self once more.

Singapore Flyer is one of the favourite spot to view the F1 Race. You can get a good view of the race event and experience the Vroom Vroom from the top.

Another view of the Sandspark. Seems like there are a lot of visitors today. :)

We are at the peak!

and we are moving down....

The Singapore skyline has changed with the completion of the Marina Bay Sands and the addition of the Art Science Museum and Helix Bridge.

Soon, we will witness the completion of the Supertree Grove and Gardens by the Bay!

This plot of land will sure be a beauty in lights lit up in the night.

Construction still on-going for the new stadium

While the adults were memorized by the paranoma view, our kiddos are having fun. Denver sure had a good amount of arm exercise for the day and he is not complaining at all!

Denver has been very caring to his new little "sister". Holding her hands, running with her and carrying her around. I felt really heart warming looking at the photos of him holding on to her as they look out of the flyer. They really enjoyed each other's company.

Family shot in the Singapore Flyer.

Our final part of the Adventure tour is taking the Open-top bus tour.

The land ride will take us from the Singapore Flyer, passing by the Esplanade, Clarke Quay, Riverside Point, Old Supreme Court, Padang, Suntec City Mall and finally back to the Singapore Flyer.

That ends our Sky-Land-Sea Adventure for the day. It was a quick weekend break away from the midst of examination preparations that Denver is under-going. Hopefully this serves as a well deserved relaxation for him and he can get his engine back on.

Our family would like to extend our thanks to Joleen and Maritez for assisting us with the ticketings and directing us throughout the tour.

Special thanks to Lynn and Vivien who have been hosting us at the Singapore Flyer today. Not forgetting OMY for the invitation. We have learned a lot and our children had fun. ^_^
