Today's post is all about decorating your tables and doing tablescapes for the holidays. I love to always have my dishes on the table. We use them, wash them and put them away right on the table. It is another way to add color and theme to your decor. It doesn't have to be expensive to be cheerful and bright. Most of my stuff came from the dollar stores, Salvation Army or Walmart. The only thing in this picture which didn't come from those places is the vintage dish on top. Those were purchased at a consignment shop.
The polka dot plates are from the dollar store as are the coasters, the striped paper plates and the placemats!
The candy canes are from Walmart. I can't remember where I got the blue dinner plates, but I'm sure they were cheap...
This centerpiece is just two cake plates stacked on one another. The top white wavy plate is seperate. The tree jar on top has some beaded icicle ornaments in it... upside down.
This black candle holder used to have tealights in it, but I am housing a little
bird ornament and some round bulbs in it for the holiday. Doesn't he look cozy?
The snowflake is all glittery as is the "Let it Snow" sign. They are both from Walmart and
the grograin ribbon and the berries are from a dollar store.
The ornaments on the chandelier are also from WM and are very glittery
and sparkly! There is a strand of "icy" garland that is woven around the
rungs of the chandelier too, but it is hard to see in this picture.
I still have no carpet under my diningroom table. I keep looking for the
perfect one, and have decided to not settle until I find just the right one.
Someday....
Now onto the kitchen table. This is where the kids eat breakfast and dinner,
so it is very whimsical with jingle bell snowflakes and blue birds hanging from
the kitchen light.
In the background is the advent calendar I sewed (by hand) for the boys before I started
using a sewing machine. It is full and we are counting down! So exciting!
The square on the top is a napkin from Party City. They have a whole polka dot line. You know I was
all over that when I saw it. The polka dot plates are from the dollar store too (I also bought
them in pink and black!)
So, get out there and find some bargains... they are there and they are just waiting for you to grab them up, combine them, and make cuteness!
Happy Holidays!!!
