I came across this short film this morning and thought it was well worth sharing. It is an 11-minute documentary about climber Andy White, who suffered a major injury when he fell while climbing a few years back. That accident impacted his approach to the sport, so he turned to bouldering to get his fix without having to deal with higher heights. Lucky for him, he has a great bouldering playground in his backyard in the form of the Boulderfields outside of Kelowna, British Columbia in Canada. The video shares Andy's story and gives us a glimpse of his passion for his new climbing obsession.

If you're hungry for a mountain biking adventure of your own, but don't have time to hit the trail anytime soon, perhaps this short film can help fill satiate your desires. It features two riders who set out to explore British Columbia on mountain bikes, riding from Whistler to the Strait of Georgia, then on to Squamish, the Sunshine Coast, Powell River, Cumberland, Hornby Island, Parksville, Duncan and Saturna Island. The journey was certainly a beautiful one and the video captures the natural wonders of those locations very nicely.  It is over 16 minutes in length, so be sure to get settled in for the duration. I promise its well worth your time.

Canyoneering is a sport that has been growing in popularity in recent years thanks in part to its intriguing mix of climbing, hiking and exploration. In a nutshell, canyoneering sends us down into the depths of a narrow slot canyon looking for a way out. It has caught on in the canyon-rich places like Utah or the ALps, and now there is a group of outdoor enthusiasts bringing the sport to Vancouver.

The video below is a trailer for a film called Down the Line and it follows a couple of canyoneers as they go out looking for a first descent in the Squamish mountains. If the full film is as beautiful as this teaser video, it looks like we'll be in for quite a treat when the full film becomes available. It looks spectacular.

Kayakers bobble past, waving at friends on the beach. A floatplane shimmies over the park, diving to its watery landing strip. A chattery hubbub bounces off the gleaming glass towers that forest the city like latter-day totems.

When the Olympic Winter Games rolled into town in 2010, there was no shortage of jaw-dropping visuals, instantly inspiring people around the world to check out Canada's immigration procedures. Vancouver is, after all, one of the cities that routinely tops those lists of the world's greatest places to live. But beyond the breathtaking snowcapped crags, city-hugging beaches and dense waterfront forests lies a comparatively young metropolis that's still trying to discover its true identity - less than 150 years after a 'gassy' Englishman rowed in and kicked it all off with a makeshift pub.
Covering the city's main outdoor, museum and gallery attractions will certainly keep you busy for a few days. After that it's highly advisable to start digging beneath the surface to find out what really makes this laid-back lotusland tick. You'll discover that the 'real Vancouver' is in the clamorous Commercial Dr coffee shops, the hipster hangouts of SoMa, the gay-friendly streets of the West End, the kaleidoscopic thoroughfares of Chinatown and the historic, re-invigorated old streets of Gastown, where that original pub once stood.
Of course, the rest of the world will know all about this in 2010. Why not beat them to it by dropping by for your own urban adventure - coupled with a giant doorstep of outdoor attractions.
